1 Answer:

Hello Riza Hapsari,

Babies laugh while sleeping quite often and most are normal. The baby is actually dreaming at the time and smiling / laughing is one form of reflex that arises. Dreaming can occur during the REM (rapid eye movement) sleep phase.

In very rare cases, babies who laugh while sleeping can be caused by neurological disorders. Laughing or smiling at sleep is a form of seizure. More common in older babies (> 10 months). The laughter can appear for 10-20 seconds, appear every time you sleep and more often, and can be accompanied by abnormal body movements. In these conditions, you should check your child to a pediatrician to get further tests. If there are no such disturbances and normal child growth, complaints of laughter while sleeping need not be a concern. Thus the explanation from me, may be useful.
