18 Months Old Children Sometimes Squint Eyes?
sorry to ask, my son is 18 months old sometimes his left eye also goes inside towards the nose. but only for a moment, not every time. guess why huh?
Hello, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
Squint or what is also called strabismus is a condition in which the two eyes don't look in the same direction all the time. One eye can appear to be turning more inward, outward, upward, or downward. Some of the things that can cause strabismus in young children include:
severe refractive disorders (for example, eye minus / myopia, plus / hypermetropia, or cylinder / astigmatism) the presence of congenital cataracts, a disturbance in the eye muscles, a disturbance in the innervation of the eye
If you do see your child's eyes squint from time to time, you should have your child checked by the Pediatrician. Your pediatrician will determine in advance whether there is a problem with the eye or if there is a nervous breakdown in your child that causes the eye to squint. Then your pediatrician can refer for further evaluation to an eye doctor or neurologist.
Even though this condition is not a serious or emergency condition, you should do this examination as soon as possible, leaving the strabismus condition in children for too long can cause further complications in your child's vision later. Children can suffer from amblyopia or lazy eye where your child's vision becomes permanently impaired and cannot be repaired even when wearing glasses.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
