My child has a fever 2-3 days. (2 years) I was healthy for a while after drinking sanmol. Then it hurts again. Instead, you get a cold cough. Sneezing endlessly. Then I changed the cold medicine with a medicine that had a cold cough … Healed for just a day, then got fever again. Usually the child is not delirious, this mlm delirious. Already 6 nights of fever with this night has not fully recovered. I did not dare to take my child to the hospital with the corona condition as it is today. Her mother and father are healthy (so we assume this is not corona) and have been home for a long time. What should I do?

Hello Anita,

Fever is an increase in body temperature> 38 degrees Celsius. Fever is a response of the body's immunity that appears especially when the body has an infection. Infection can be caused by a variety of viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi.

There are so many diseases that can cause symptoms of fever + cough colds in children aged 2 years (other than Covid-19), for example:

Upper respiratory tract infection
Most often caused by viral infections (rhinovirus, parainfluenza virus, RSV, influenza virus, etc.) and bacteria (Haemophillus influenza, Streptococcus, etc.), or fungi (less frequently)
Upper respiratory tract infections can cause inflammation of the pharynx, larynx, nasal mucosa, tonsils (tonsils), larynx
Symptoms: fever, runny or stuffy nose, cough, sore throat, decreased appetite, achy muscles, some children also experience diarrhea
Upper respiratory tract infections due to viruses (at most) can generally heal by themselves within 5-7 days, depending on the immunity of the patient's body

Lower respiratory tract infection
Can be caused due to bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites
For example: bronchiolitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, pneumonia
Symptoms: high fever, cough colds, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, abnormal breath sounds, decreased appetite

Other diseases that are not specific in the respiratory tract such as chickenpox, dengue fever, typhoid fever, measles, can also give initial symptoms similar to respiratory infections.

What mothers can do at home when a child has a fever and coughs and colds is:

Persuade children to get enough rest
Give children more water to drink.
If the child has a blocked nose, you can provide a basin of warm water and then teach the child to breathe the steam. Take care that the child is not doused with water.
Warm compresses to the child's body during a fever to speed up body temperature.
When a child has a high fever, avoid covering the child's body with a thick blanket, because it makes it difficult to heat down
Give paracetamol with a frequency of 3-4 times a day or more often an interval of 4 hours if the fever is still present. Use the dose according to the child's weight, which is 10-15 mg / kg body weight / drink.
Apply clean and healthy behavior

If the child has a high fever> 40 degrees Celsius, the child has a seizure or has a history of febrile seizures, fever> 38 for 3 consecutive days even though paracetamol has been given according to the dose, a rash appears all over the body, there are nosebleeds or other signs of spontaneous bleeding, shortness of breath, severe abdominal pain, significant reduction in urine volume, severe headache accompanied by spraying vomiting, stiffness in the neck, the child has decreased consciousness (difficult to wake up), you should continue to bring the child to a health facility.

When traveling out of the house, use a mask, avoid using public transportation or vehicles that are in the crowd, as much as possible minimize children to touch objects in public places, do not touch the face area with hands that have not been washed thoroughly, teach children to be diligent in washing hands with running water + soap. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
