4 Months Do Not Menstruate?
, I’m 20 years old. From January to April I have not experienced menstruation. Last March I had sex but used contraception, and until now I have not menstruated but had a large amount of vaginal discharge. And if you say you’re pregnant, I don’t feel any signs of pregnancy either. What could it be?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically if you have not had periods for 3 months or more whereas before you had regular periods (or 6 months or more if your previous periods were irregular), you could be said to have secondary amenorrhoea. Secondary amenorrhoea can be caused by many possibilities, including:
pregnancy and breastfeeding
hormonal imbalances such as tumors in the pituitary gland, hyperthyroidism, low estrogen and high testosterone
the use of certain hormonal contraceptives
Other factors, such as excessive or underweight, excessive stress, excessive weight gain or loss
You should immediately check with your obstetrician so that further evaluation can be done for your menstrual disorders. You need a complete examination (including laboratory tests, hormone tests, CT scans or MRI if necessary) so that you can know the exact cause of the amenorrhea and can be treated according to the cause.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
