7 Month Old Baby Has Difficulty Defecating?

My baby is 7 months 1 week old, he usually takes a chapter every day but for two days he hasn’t had a chapter. Today he is a chapter but his constipation is black and only a little. There is nothing to replace the food and formula milk. What’s the cause of that?

Hi ekovanlois2006,
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Babies who have difficulty defecating do not always show an abnormality. As long as there are no complaints such as abdominal pain, flatulence, vomiting, or bloody stools, generally this condition can still be categorized as normal. The reason could be because:
Improved food texture, for example from liquid to thick or solid. Lack of drinking. Lack of fiber. Lack of movement. If there are no other complaints as mentioned above, you should not worry too much first. Try the following tips to help smooth bowel movements:
Give children food according to their age, both in terms of consistency, frequency, and quantity --- meanwhile, first give children foods that are thinner in consistency. Give your child lots of water, both breast milk and water. As much as possible, avoid giving formula milk before the baby 1 year old Invite your baby to actively move and play Do baby massage, by laying him on his back on a comfortable mat, then massage his stomach in a clockwise direction and move his legs like he is pedaling a bicycle If the baby does not defecate for more than 1 week, or if the baby does not pass gas at all in 2 days, you should immediately consult your child to the doctor. It is feared that there are other complications, such as hypercalcemia, celiac disease, gastrointestinal tumors, and so on that aggravate the complaint. Avoid giving any medication (including laxatives) to babies under 1 year old without a doctor's prescription.
Hope it helps ya..
