A 4-year-old Child Likes To Tense His Legs While Sleeping On His Stomach?
Good night. My child is 4 years old, in a few days I sometimes see him on his stomach and his legs stretched. At first I thought maybe it was just lying on my stomach, but tonight before going to bed he slept on his stomach then I lifted his legs he tensed his legs. In the past, my younger siblings were like that too, even to him. Is there a childhood like that?
Tightening of the legs while sleeping on his stomach can be caused by normal habits to stretch muscles when feeling stiff / stiff.
Watch for the following symptoms that may accompany your child to tense his legs:
Decreased awareness (not responding / turning when called) when tense legs and stomach. The condition of decreased consciousness is one of the main signs of seizures in children.
Disturbances when walking and at other times and often indicate uncontrolled movements in the hands and feet.
Growth retardation in general.
If none of the symptoms mentioned above, the possibility of tensing the legs is a natural spontaneous movement.
But if there are 2 of the symptoms mentioned above, you should consult your child to the Pediatrician. The doctor will conduct a thorough medical examination and if necessary investigations such as blood tests, brain wave recording (EEG), and CT scan to ensure that what your child is experiencing is not a form of seizures or congenital abnormalities associated with muscle.
If tense your feet is an effort of the child to relieve muscle tension in the legs, do independent handling such as light massaging the part of the foot that feels tense, cold compresses the area of the tense leg, remind the child to consume enough drinking water every day.
