A Brown Rash Develops On The Skin?
Hello doctor! I am 17 years old girl. I want to ask. When I woke up last Tuesday, I saw a lot of brown spots that appeared suddenly. Even though the day before there was nothing. The spots are quite a lot, the shapes are not all the same, the size is on average small, some are even just dots, but there is one that is rather large. I think it’s scuffed because it’s dry brown and the edges are a little reddish. But I didn’t feel itchy and sore. I thought it just got bacteria. But it has been 3 days that there is no sign that the spots will disappear. What am I going through? How is the treatment? I was afraid it was skin cancer, but the spot was on the shoulder area which was never exposed to sunlight and there was no history of cancer in my family. Please help. thanks.
Thank you for the question. The appearance of skin rashes in each person will usually have a different color depending on the skin color of each. A skin rash that is reddish in one person may not necessarily have a reddish tint in people whose skin is darker, it can usually be slightly brownish. The appearance of brown patches on the skin can be caused by:
erythrasma, which is a skin infection by Corynebacterium bacteria
Brown spots that appear suddenly are not caused by skin cancer. Usually, the skin lesions in skin cancer will appear before then become enlarged, become prominent and uneven, or change color.
Please consult your doctor so that the doctor can explore more about your complaint by asking you a few questions and then checking the skin rash in question. The doctor will determine the next treatment according to the underlying health condition.
In the meantime, avoid direct sun exposure. Use sunscreen if you want to do outdoor activities.
Hope this information is helpful.
