Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Lumps behind the ear, apart from boils, can also appear due to other causes. If the lump feels rubbery and gets bigger, then here are some possible causes:
Infections, eg folliculitis (boils), warts, miliaria (prickly heat), scabies (scabies) Skin tags (genetic variation of normal skin mass) Benign tumors, eg hemangiomas, lipomas, cysts Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes), eg due to infection tuberculosis, cytomegalovirus, syphilis, cat claw Cancer, and so on. Not all boils will immediately have an eye on top. In the early stages, it is possible that the lump that appears will only be reddish in color without being accompanied by a white dot in the middle.
These lumps can be dangerous, but they may not. To be sure, doctors need to conduct an evaluation directly. So, you should take your child directly to the doctor at the nearest health facility. If needed, the doctor can perform supporting tests, such as a biopsy.
In the meantime, you are advised not to touch the lump that appears too often. Always bathe your baby and shampoo with soap and baby shampoo. Also clean the area around the lump of dirt. Avoid applying anything to the lump that appears if it is not recommended directly by the doctor.
Hope it helps ya..
