A Mother Who Has Hydrocephalus?
whether a mother who as a teenager contracted hydrocephalus and had a tube inserted in her body. Can she get pregnant and give birth? Because there is a hose in his body. Information please
Thank you Angelie Rahma Pertiwi for your question on the Alodotker forum, hydrocephalus is a condition where there is a buildup of fluid in the brain cavity or what is called the ventricle. As a result, this fluid buildup will push the brain and can result in decreased function or cause disturbances in the brain. To reduce this buildup of fluid, a channel is made that connects the brain cavity with other parts of the body, which is usually connected to the abdominal cavity or what is known as a VP (ventriculoperitoneal) shunt.
Regarding the relationship between pregnancy and the use of VP shunt, it is known from several studies that it is found that the use of VP shunt is not a contraindication for someone experiencing pregnancy. It is known that patients who use this VP shunt can still conceive and give birth in good condition, even in some patients can give birth normally. Even though in this condition, the sufferer still has the risk of experiencing certain disorders, such as blockage of the VP shunt line due to an increase in the size of the uterus during pregnancy. Therefore, patients who use this VP shunt can still consult with an obstetrician for an examination before planning a pregnancy.
That's all from me, hope it can help
