A Painful Lump Under The Jaw After Finishing TB Glandular Treatment?
Assalammualaikum doctor. I am Siti Arianti Lubis, 24 years old. I want to ask. I have lymph node TB. And I have finished treatment. And recently, my lower jaw was hurting and I felt a lump in the pouch that also hurt. I just knew that there was a lump in the right jaw and in this week my head was making it really hurt. Is there any effect on my lymph node Tb. Please explain. Thank you assalammualaikum
Good evening, thanks for the question
A lump the size of a marble accompanied by symptoms of pain in the neck area may be a condition called lymphadenitis. Lymph nodes are in several locations in the body and can enlarge when the immune cells in them become active due to several conditions, one of which is the inflammatory process in the surrounding organs.
One of the causes of lymphadenitis is TB infection, but it can also be caused by the following conditions:
1. Bacterial pharyngitis or inflammation of the throat
2. Streptococcal or staphyplococcus germs
3. Viral infections
For now, if the lump persists, you should do a re-examination with the doctor. The doctor needs to assess the characteristics of the lump because it can provide good information to estimate the underlying cause. In TB lymphadenitis relapses generally multiple lumps accompanied by general complaints such as weakness, weight loss, fever at night, and so forth.
Other investigations may be needed if the cause is not clearly known, for example through a biopsy examination of the tissue from the lump so that a definitive diagnosis of lymphadenopathy causes can be established. Future treatment will also depend on the final diagnosis.
That's all, hope you can help.
