A Reddish Bump On The Inner Lip?
Hi doctor, I have a swollen inner lip dark red, it doesn’t hurt, how do I do it?
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com. I am dr. Princess Claudya will help answer your questions.
Red bumps in the mouth can be caused by the following conditions:
Thrush (aphtous ulcer). Canker sores appear as yellowish white sores surrounded by a raised reddish color that can appear as bumps. This condition can be triggered by stress, poor oral hygiene, nutritional deficiencies (such as vitamin C, vitamin B complex, iron, etc.), side effects of drugs (eg chemotherapy drugs), use of toothpaste containing sodium lauryl sulphate.
Inflammation of the lips due to a bite wound, or a puncture of the stirrup wire (if wearing)
Candida yeast infection
Viral infections, such as herpes or coxackie virus (hand foot and mouth disease)
Mucocele (blockage of the salivary glands)
To make sure further, you should check with a general practitioner to be checked directly on the condition of your mouth. If necessary, the doctor will perform supporting examinations such as blood tests or refer you to an internal medicine specialist to determine the exact cause. And after that you will be given treatment according to the underlying cause.
Some things you can do to maintain oral health and prevent worsening of the disease are:
Brush your teeth after eating and before bed
Use dental floss to clean the remaining plaque between the teeth
Gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash
Sufficient water consumption is about 2 liters a day
Consume nutritious foods, multiply fruits and vegetables as a source of vitamins and minerals
Management of stress well
Avoid smoking, alcohol, and foods with high sugar levels
That is the explanation from me. Hopefully helpful and useful. Get well soon :)
