A Throbbing Feeling Below The Navel, Is It A Sign Of Pregnancy?
Good afternoon Doctor,
Thank you for the question. Abdominal pain below the navel can be caused by various health conditions such as bladder infections, bladder stones, colitis, gastroenteritis, endometriosis, muscle aches, and so on. Pain in the lower abdomen is not specific for pregnancy. Signs of pregnancy are divided into two, namely signs of uncertain pregnancy and definite signs of pregnancy. Uncertain signs of pregnancy mean that if a woman experiences these signs it does not necessarily mean that she is pregnant because these signs can be caused by other medical conditions. Examples of signs of uncertain pregnancy include late menstruation, enlarged and painful breasts, frequent urination, nausea and vomiting, mood swings, more sensitive smell, constipation. A definite sign of pregnancy is to do a testpack and ultrasound examination to look for a gestational sac or a fetus.
Please you keep waiting for your period. If this abdominal pain is getting worse, please consult a doctor for further examination. The doctor will need to know your complaint, examine you, and perform additional tests (eg blood tests, urine tests, stool examinations, ultrasound, CT scan). From this examination, the doctor will determine the next treatment for you.
Please also consult with a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology if for the past 6 years you have not been blessed with a baby. Your doctor will need to do a series of tests on you to find out if there are any medical conditions that are preventing pregnancy.
Please also keep managing stress well, increase the consumption of nutritious foods, exercise regularly, avoid excessive physical activity, avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
I hope this helps.
