Good night ,,, I am 23 weeks pregnant but the baby in my womb was sentenced by a doctor to have hydrocephalus, my baby’s BPD is now almost 9 months old, while her body is still 6 months pregnant, what I want to ask is there is no medicine / vitamin to reduce it. liquid that is in my baby’s head? In order for my baby to be born normally, do I have to go to a fetomaternal specialist? Because I have changed doctors 3 times, I have never given drugs / vitamins to reduce the liquid ,,, thank you before, waiting for the answer 🙂
Hello Cinta, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
Hydrocephalus is a condition where there is a buildup of fluid in the brain. In general, hydrocephalus can be divided into 2, congenital hydrocephalus (hydrocephalus that occurs from birth) and acquired hydrocephalus. Congenital hydrocephalus can be detected since the baby is still in the womb. The following are some of the possible causes of congenital hydrocephalus:
stenosis (narrowing) of the aqueductus sylvii (the tube connecting the third and fourth ventricles in the brain), neural tube disorders arachnoid cysts Dandy-Walker syndrome Chiari malformation (the presence of a part of the brain that enters the spinal canal) Hydrocephalus conditions can only be treated with operation, and surgery will not be performed while your baby is still in the womb. Vitamins or drugs will not reduce fluid in the brain of the baby in your womb. Your baby will be born with hydrocephalus. After your baby is born again, certain actions can be taken, such as inserting a tube to remove fluid and if there is indeed a blockage in the brain fluid channels, certain actions can be taken to overcome the cause of the blockage.
You should discuss it again with your gynecologist. You can also ask for recommendations from a Pediatrician and a neurosurgeon who can help treat your child at birth.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
