Hello Mr Dian, Muscle mass is the size and weight of a muscle. The body consists of skin and a layer of fat, then muscles attached to bones. The body appears to be shrinking but gaining weight when weighed can be due to increased muscle mass and a reduced fat layer, this will make the body shape more visible. the weight of muscle is greater than its size, in contrast to fat, the size of fat is greater than its weight. Two people weighing 50 kg, one person can look thinner because of his greater muscle mass than one other person who looks fatter because of more fat layers. If you gain weight followed by exercise and consuming adequate protein and nutrition, then having a fit body is not a problem. However, if the weight increases suddenly, the body feels weak, there is swelling which when pressed on the skin is difficult to return, it is called pitting edema or the stomach is getting bigger and feels bloated (ascites) then it can be caused by diseases such as kidney failure, heart disease, and liver disorders.
