About Platelets And Leukocytes Increased In MCU Results?
Good night. I am 26 years old. I want to ask for a medical check-up. My platelets increased = 408000 / ul Lekosit esterase positive, leukocytes increased = 25 / ulThat’s what I mean? Please enlighten me. Thanks😊
Platelets are important blood cells in the process of blood clotting. Platelets are normally around 150,000-450,000 / mcL, so your platelet results are generally within normal limits.
As for leukocyte esterase, it is generally done in a urine test. Esterase is an enzyme produced by white blood cells. A significant increase in white blood cells in the urine will cause leukocyte esterase to be positive. In the urine test a microscopic examination will also be performed to count the number of white blood cells.
The presence of white blood cells in the urine can indicate urinary tract infections. But in addition to urinary tract infections, increased white blood cells in the urine can also be found in cases of kidney infection, dehydration, consumption of high doses of vitamin C, high urine protein, or urine samples and contaminated urine sites.
You should bring the results of the MCU directly to the doctor so that interpretation can be done and also further tests to ascertain the cause of the increase in white blood cells in your urine. If needed the doctor can provide treatment for you. Meanwhile you should increase your drinking water and avoid the habit of holding urine.
Hope it helps you,
