About SDF / Stromal Cell-derived Factor 1?
How come my friend got the sdf diagnosis? r nSDF?
Good afternoon, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com. The abbreviation you are conveying is not commonly used in the medical world to describe a particular disease. If anything, the abbreviation SDF is stromal cell-derived factor 1, a type of protein found in the brain, heart, liver, kidneys and spinal cord. Clinically SDF-1 serves to detect and assess certain disease conditions - which we don't think this is what you mean.
We may be able to help predict possible misunderstandings in delivery if there is at least information about the onset of the disease, the symptoms experienced, what treatment was received or the method of treatment. However, due to limited information, we are very sorry that we cannot help further.
Our advice, if you really want to know what disease your friend has, you can ask your friends or family directly. And if they don't want to tell you, then you have to respect that too. Medical ethics maintains patient confidentiality and does not even allow doctors to tell the patient's adult medical condition to his own family if the patient does not want to. So once again, we apologize for not being able to help further, and maybe if you have received more information about your friend's condition, you can make a new question in this forum. That's all, hope it helps.
