About The Dangers Of Using Anti-mosquito Drugs During Pregnancy?
My doctor wants to ask, right now I am 3 months pregnant, when at home there are a lot of mosquitoes, how to get rid of mosquitoes, my mother-in-law likes to use mosquito coils, if my husband likes to use spray, until sometimes my tongue is like poisoning the spray and sometimes also father-in-law likes to smoke inside the house, is it safe for my fetus?
Good afternoon, thanks for the question
The use of mosquito coils and aerosol spray deodorizers during pregnancy should be avoided. These aerosol substances contain organophosphates which, if inhaled can cause irritation in the airways.
Although the possibility of substances inhaled by the fetus in the womb is very small and its effect on the fetus is not known with certainty, it is better if avoided. Chemical poisoning from anti-mosquito aerosols can cause complaints of shortness of breath that have an effect on oxygenation to the fetus.
During pregnancy it would be better if minimizing the use of chemicals that are not yet clear how the effect to the fetus. You can use mosquito nets and long clothes while sleeping, use mosquito repellent, and clean the house so that mosquitoes do not bite and nest at home.
If you encounter complaints such as shortness of breath, throat like burning, vomiting, headache, or fainting after inhaling anti-mosquito spray, then immediately check your condition to the doctor.
That's all, hope you can help
