Acne With 70 Percent Alcohol?
is it safe to get rid of acne with 70 percent alcohol? I don’t feel confident because of acne.
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
70% alcohol usually has the main ingredient is isopropyl alcohol. This product can be used as a disinfectant, antifreeze, and also a solvent. It is able to dissolve various types of oils, alkaloids, gums, and natural resins.
70% alcohol can indeed have disinfectant properties, which can help eradicate bacteria, including the bacteria that cause acne (P. acne). However, you need to know that acne is a condition that is multifactorial in nature. Not only bacterial infection, the appearance of acne is also triggered by hormonal, genetic (hereditary) fluctuations, the use of inappropriate skin care products, excess oil (sebum) production, side effects of drugs, unhealthy diet, psychological stress, UV exposure, and various other diseases.
Due to its multifactorial causes, acne treatment cannot be limited to the application of 70% alcohol alone. Excessive application of this alcohol to the surface of the skin, especially facial skin, is very risky to trigger irritation. This irritation can cause the skin to become red, itchy, sore, swollen, peeling, and the acne will get worse. The skin condition that is generally dry after the application of alcohol can also trigger excessive oil production which does not relieve acne, but on the contrary.
You should not indiscriminately apply 70% alcohol to the skin unless it is given the right medical indication as directed by a doctor. In order for your acne to subside, and your skin to be healthy again, you can try the following tips:
Do not squeeze or peel pimples by force
Clean the skin regularly using anti-acne cleansing soap
Do not rub the skin excessively
Use sunscreen to protect your skin from direct sunlight
Clean the skin after every use of make up
Limit the use of excessive make up
Avoid stress and don't stay up late
Live a healthy diet, rich in vegetables and fruit
Drink lots of water
Acne usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks to heal. But sometimes, scars on the skin due to acne can heal longer, which is up to months. If you consistently do the tips above, slowly the acne and its scars will get better on its own.
If you feel that you have not experienced significant changes in 1 to 2 months, it is advisable to immediately see a skin and genital specialist doctor for further treatment.
I hope this helps.
