Administration Of Antibiotics After Hospitalization?
I just got home from a 4-day hospital stay in the hospital, I got typhoid, 1/320 until the platelets dropped to 87000 but now it has risen to 90000, the nurse said that it was absolute because of high typhus not because of a virus. After the platelets went up I was allowed to go home, I was only given an ulcer drug and trolit for treatment at home but why wasn’t I given antibiotics? until the body starts to warm up again and sometimes the stomach hurts, still weak. Is it okay if you aren’t given antibiotics? as I know tipes treatment must be treated until completely healed.
Hello Son Nugraha, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Typhus or typhus is a disease that arises due to bacterial infection of Salmonella typhii, and is not caused by a virus. There has never been a theory which states that the decrease in platelets in typhus is caused by viruses and widal titers that are low or high to reach 1/320 will indeed not be caused by viral infections.
If the platelet value has increased steadily (although little by little) and is free of fever (body temperature when measured is always normal ranging between 36.4-37.2 degrees Celsius) for 2x24 hours without using fever-reducing drugs, then in general it is permissible for outpatient care , but while at home, it is still advisable to have a complete rest.
Typhus treatment does require antibiotics, each antibiotic used to treat this disease has its own recommended duration to kill typhus bacteria. There are antibiotics that are recommended for 5 days, 7 days or 14 days. If the doctor does not provide further antibiotics for consumption at home, then the treatment using antibiotics through the infusion is sufficient for the time of typhus treatment, especially if it is assessed that your condition meets the criteria for outpatient treatment.
To help reduce the remaining complaints, it is recommended that you keep a total rest at home and start learning to eat more dense foods such as rice. Stay out of consumption of high-fiber foods such as vegetables or fruits for a while until complaints have really reduced. If the fever reappears (as evidenced by temperature tests showing a figure above 37.5 degrees Celsius) and the complaint is felt even more severe, it is advisable to return to see a doctor who previously treated you to re-evaluate your condition.
In the meantime, keep resting at home in total, consume foods that have been recommended by doctors and take medicines that are recommended as recommended.
I hope this helps.
