Adverse Effects Of Forgetting To Take Herpes Medicine?
Hello r nI am Muhammad Ridwan r nI am a sufferer of Herpes disease r nThe question r nWill I forget that taking Herpes medicine will have a bad impact / illness for life or will it have a positive effect ?? ….
Good evening, thanks for the question
Previously, what herpes do you mean in this question? Is genital herpes (herpes simplex 2), herpes around the mouth (herpes simplex 1), or herpes on the skin like chickenpox (shingles)?
If what is meant is either herpes simplex, type 1 which causes skin lesions around the mouth or type 2 that causes lesions in genitalia, then treatment with anti-viral is important and effective.
Provision of anti-virus in these cases aims to reduce the severity of symptoms, speed healing, prevent recurrence, and prevent transmission to others. Drug regimens that have proven effective are acyclovir, valacyclovir, and famciclovir. If treatment is not given, it is feared that healing is not optimal and risk recurrence.
Whereas in the case of shingles, administration of acyclovir, valacyclovir, or famciclovir according to the literature is only effective given in the first 72 hours after the appearance of the initial skin lesion. The administration aims to reduce the symptoms of pain and speed healing. Past this time should no longer need to be given, including if you forget to take medicine beyond that time you should not need to continue.
Herpes zoster rarely causes recurrence but can be at risk of complications in the form of persistent pain or neuralgia at the site of the skin lesion even though it has healed if not given optimal anti-viral treatment (acyclovir can reduce the incidence of neuralgia in a few months later).
If so, do consult with your doctor first so that it can be further evaluated.
So, hopefully useful
