After Hernia Surgery Is It Allowed To Cough?
Sorry, after hernia surgery is it allowed to cough? But when coughing the part of the operation like there’s an urge I’m afraid it’s loose is the connection inside, thanks
Good evening, thanks for the question
Recovery from postoperative hernias generally takes 1-2 weeks. However, patients are advised not to exert heavy activity and lift weights for up to 4-6 weeks after surgery. Light activities like walking can be done to help speed healing. Coughing, straining, or sneezing should indeed be avoided because of the potential to cause increased abdominal cavity pressure and also pain in the former operation.
But you can work around this when you cough or sneeze by gently pressing the area of the former operation using a hand or pillow so that it will feel more comfortable. Meanwhile, to prevent constipation can consume a lot of water, vegetables, fruits, wheat, and other fiber-rich foods.
Don't forget to postoperative control routine to be assessed by the doctor's wound healing process.
That's all, hope you can help
