Apgar Normal Value In Infants?
want to ask my child’s Apgar score is 6 7 8 is that normal
Hello dear Ade, thank you for your question
The Apgar score is an initial assessment of the baby's physical condition which is useful in determining the readiness of the baby to start life outside the mother's womb. This score also determines the medical actions required by the baby. The following are some of the indicators assessed:
muscle activity heart rate response reflex body color respiration This assessment is carried out at least twice, namely in the first and fifth minutes since birth, which are then added and averaged to get a total value. The best score is 10 and the lowest score is 0. The lower the apgar score, the greater the need for medical action to save the baby's life. Conversely, the higher the Apgar score, the higher the chances of the baby to survive and be healthy. Apart from the Apgar score, the doctor will also perform a live physical examination to confirm the physical condition of your baby, especially in the first six hours. Babies who have certain medical problems will be treated in a special intensive care unit for babies (NICU).
You should not panic or worry, always discuss your baby's health condition to the pediatrician who examined him directly
Hopefully this is useful
