Hello. Is the product that has been registered in the PDR (Physicians’ Desk Reference) guaranteed safe? Is there a website to check what products are registered in the PDR? So I can make sure the product I buy is safe or not. Thanks

Hello sxsx2804,

PDR or The Physicians' Desk Reference is one of the sources of drug information used by doctors and patients in America, the information contained itself such as drug products, drug categories, trademarks and generics, ingredient content, function and action of drugs, indications and contraindications , side effects and more about the drug. The drugs that are registered in the PDR itself are drugs that are widely provided by pharmaceutical manufacturers which for their safety are not based on the PDR but are licensed by a regulatory body in the country such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the United States and in Indonesia itself is the Supervisory Agency Medicine and Food (BPOM) as a regulatory body for medicinal products, cosmetics, herbal products and food & beverages that are circulating in Indonesia.

There are many types of drugs themselves where there are categories of drugs that can be purchased freely or called over-the-counter drugs with a green circle logo on their packaging, free drugs with a blue circle logo on the packaging and drugs of prescription drugs or prescription drugs with a red circle logo on the packaging where the drug is not may be purchased and consumed carelessly without examination and prescription by a doctor. For this reason, in order to ensure that the product purchased is safe or unnoticed several things, one of which is whether the product has been registered with BPOM and its use should also be considered by reading the product content and also indications and contraindications of the product. If in doubt, it is a good idea to consult with your doctor or health worker about the product to be used. Specifically for medicinal products, it is important to check your condition firsthand so that you are given a prescription by a doctor so that the use of legal drugs, according to the indications and their proper use both in indications and also in the correct dosage and method of use.

You can also access the official BPOM website to search for products that already have a marketing authorization for drugs, food & beverages, cosmetics, traditional medicines and health supplements.
