Are These Symptoms Of The Corona Virus?
I am 24 years old, on April 3, 2020 I first felt a fever, there was no feeling of tightness and cough. What should I do?
Hello Al Fatih, Thank you for the question.
It is natural that you are worried about a corona virus infection at this time given that there is currently a corona virus outbreak. Symptoms of fever can be caused by a number of infectious diseases, not always due to corona virus infection. Fever is a common response of the body's immune system when the body has an infection. Fever is a condition when body temperature reaches 38 C or more, measured with a thermometer. Some causes of fever, for example: flu, sore throat, dengue fever, typhus, and others.
Corona virus can cause symptoms that resemble the symptoms of the common cold. In general, symptoms experienced by sufferers are high fever (38 C or more), cough, and shortness of breath. Symptoms appear within 2-14 days after exposure to the corona virus. A person can be suspected of having a corona virus infection if they have symptoms and in the past 14 days have a history of traveling to another country that has a corona virus case, living in an area that has a corona virus case, or a history of contact with a person suspected / confirmed corona virus infection . If you only experience symptoms of fever and no history above, then the possibility of corona virus infection is still relatively low. However, you are still encouraged to monitor these symptoms.
The independent handling you can do is:
multiply water consumption
multiply the consumption of nutritious foods
manage stress well
taking paracetamol to treat fever, follow the instructions for using the drug on the packaging
If the fever symptoms do not improve at all for more than 3 consecutive days, it is recommended that you consult with your nearest GP so that you can have a direct examination (including blood tests if needed) to find the cause so that further treatment can be given.
You are also encouraged to take steps to prevent corona virus:
always maintain hand hygiene by washing hands regularly with soap and water or with a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol
avoid touching the nose, mouth and eyes before washing hands
just stay at home, no need to leave the house if it's not urgent
limit interactions with other people
keep a distance of at least 1 meter from other people
avoid crowds when you leave the house
avoid people who are coughing and colds
always maintain the cleanliness of the surrounding area including the house
I hope this helps.
