Armpit Pain After IPL?

.rnI am a 21 year old woman. It’s been 1×24 hours I feel pain when pressed in the armpit after IPL underarm. This is the 5th treatment.rnIs it normal to have pain like that after treatment? Can the pain go away with independent treatment? Should I see a doctor? If so, which doctor should I come to?

Hi Hanifa,
Thank you for the question. Intense pulse light (IPL) therapy is a therapy that uses light energy with different wavelengths to treat various skin conditions such as brown spots, facial wrinkles, and to remove hair growth/body hair. This light energy will be converted into heat energy which aims to cause damage to the fig. This procedure generally has minimal side effects in the form of discomfort, stinging, and burning in the therapeutic area. These side effects usually get better in 2-3 days. After doing this procedure you are advised not to use any products on the underarm area such as deodorant. You can try applying a cold compress (for example, using ice or a clean towel that has been soaked in cold water) on the painful area and can be repeated 3-4 times a day. If this complaint does not improve after 3 days, do not hesitate to return to consult with the doctor who treats you.
Hope this information is useful.
