At What Age Babies Are Given The Hepatitis B Vaccine?
hi my child is 2 months 9 days 2 days ago he was immunized with BCG but has not immunized Hepatitis B who is 2 months old can my child immunize hepatitis B after BCG immunization and do not take time from BCG injection to hepatitis B how many days?
Hello Princess, Thank you for your question.
Immunization is an action taken to prevent infectious diseases by giving a vaccine to someone. The vaccine can be in the form of a virus / bacterium that has been weakened or in the form of virus / bacterial particles into the body with the aim of stimulating the immune system to form immune substances / antibodies so that the body can fight infection.
Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) immunization is an immunization given to protect yourself from tuberculosis (TB) infection. This vaccine is only given once in a lifetime and can be given to newborns up to 2 months old. For hepatitis B vaccine, recommendations from the Indonesian pediatrician association (IDAI) are as follows: the first hepatitis B vaccine is given up to 12 hours after birth, then followed by the second hepatitis B vaccine within 4 weeks of the first hepatitis B. The third hepatitis B vaccine is given a minimum of 2 months and best 5 months from the second hepatitis B. Or in other words, hepatiti B vaccine is given at 0 months, 1 month and 6 months. Hepatitis B vaccine can be given at the same time as BCG or at any time after BCG, there is no minimum period of administration of this vaccine. The minimum period of vaccine administration must be considered for administering the same vaccine or administering two different vaccines containing weakened viruses / bacteria.
Please consult your child's immunization schedule further with your child's specialist doctor. You should also have your own notes about your child's immunizations to make them easier to remember.
Hopefully this information is useful.
