Blackened Stitch Marks On The Lips?
Hello, I have a blackened scar on my lip due to stitches. I have gotten this wound 13 years ago. I have been diligently doing lip care such as exfoliating with a lip scrub, using lip balm, honey, etc., but the marks are still very clear. Guess what should I do again so that the marks will fade? Thanks.
Hello Sintia, thank you for your question
The black marks that you mean are probably hyperpigmentation that occurs after an inflammatory process in the skin, either due to infection or non-infection, including because of stitch marks. The mechanism for the formation of hyperpigmentation is due to the buildup of melanin, which is the pigment that gives skin color.
Basically, hyperpigmentation does not require special treatment because it will fade over time. However, if this condition occurs on your face and the appearance of your face is disturbed, there is no harm in consulting a skin specialist. The doctor will examine the hyperpigmented area, followed by determining the right medical procedure, such as giving vitamin C and kojic acid, laser or chemical peels. While waiting for the doctor's treatment, you should use a moisturizer in the hyperpigmented area and avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
Hopefully this is useful
