Bleeding For 2 Months After The Biopsy?
Pg doctor My mother had bleeding after a biopsy to this day, it has been 2 months. How to deal with it?
Good morning, thanks for the question
Prolonged bleeding after invasive procedures including biopsy is not a normal condition. The causes include:
1. Wound infection
2. Vascular injury
3. Blood clotting disorders
4. Take blood thinners
In such conditions further evaluation by the attending surgeon is necessary. If the bleeding is seeping then the action that can be done independently in the form of performing dressing in a related location, after that it still needs further examination to determine the cause so that further management can be more directed.
If it is caused by an infected wound, the wound needs to be sterile cleansing and administration of adequate antibiotics. If caused by a blood vessel injury, ligation or cauterization is needed to stop the bleeding, and so on. This condition needs special attention and appropriate treatment because prolonged bleeding will cause circulation disorders to shock due to reduced blood volume.
That's all, hope you can help.
