Good evening, thanks for the question
The human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone detected on pregnancy test pack examination is produced by the placenta since early pregnancy. Levels will increase with increasing gestational age and reach a peak at 8-11 weeks gestation. If you experience a miscarriage that has been confirmed through an ultrasound examination, the hCG levels in the blood will gradually decrease until it reaches a value of 0 or cannot be detected in the blood as before pregnancy.
The length of time a decrease in hCG levels can vary in each woman. The condition is also influenced by levels of hCG just prior to miscarriage and gestational age. Generally a digital pregnancy test will show negative results after about 2 weeks after a miscarriage.
After this time if the results of a digital pregnancy test remain positive then it is likely that there is residual pregnancy tissue in the uterus, or because of a slow decrease in hCG levels.
If bleeding continues from the birth canal after a miscarriage is confirmed through examination, then you should do re-control to assess the current condition. Ongoing bleeding can be caused by the remaining conception tissue in the uterus that has not fully come out. In such conditions, the treatment is with drugs that trigger uterine contractions so that the rest of the tissue comes out, or with curettage procedures.
That's all, hope you can help.
