Blood Pressure Drops Dramatically After Consuming Green Tea?
Afternoon,. R n r nI want to ask, My mother has hypertension. So far, if my mother’s blood pressure is checked, my blood pressure is always above 140/90, it has reached 230 systole. The lowest was 130/90. Well this week my mother always consumes green tea every morning, but also still taking hypertension medication from a doctor, and after measuring my mother’s blood pressure after consuming green tea it always goes down. Now it’s even 110/70. Is that normal? Thank you doctor
Hello. Thank you for the question on HealthReplies.com.
Normal blood pressure is defined as a cystole number less than 120 or diastole 80. Between systoles 120-139 or diastole 80-89 is called prehypertension. Whereas the above number is called hypertension. The condition of hypertension is caused due to hardening of the arteries or it can also be caused by excess blood volume in the body, for example in kidney disease.
Some factors that can increase a person's risk for developing hypertension include:
Age: As we get older, a person's risk for hypertension will increase Overweight / obesity Excess salt consumption Less physical activity or exercise Smoking habits Psychic stress Complications of hypertension can be very dangerous, for example kidney disease, stroke stroke, bleeding disease, failure heart
Treatment of hypertension includes changes in lifestyle for the better and healthier and consumption of antihypertensive drugs when needed. Periodic blood pressure evaluation must also be carried out to see the development of treatment in hypertension.
Your mother's blood pressure level if it is almost always above systole 140 or diastole 90 without blood pressure-lowering drugs, is a sign that your mother has hypertension or high blood pressure. This also may be a consideration for your mother's doctor to provide blood pressure-lowering drugs.
Your mother's blood pressure level after consuming antihypertension is 110/70 based on the definition of hypertension above is categorized as normal, or more precisely controlled.
According to some studies, green tea is said to have an impact on reducing blood pressure. So, it could be a decrease in blood pressure is indeed caused by the routine consumption of antihypertensive drugs from your mother's doctor, coupled with regular consumption of green tea. Normal stable blood pressure indicates that the antihypertensive drug used is the optimal dose and must be consumed regularly every day to prevent complications of hypertension.
Apart from drug consumption, other things that can be done to maintain blood pressure levels remain normal are:
Do the DASH diet, which is eating patterns by increasing consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, low-fat milk, and reducing consumption of red meat and foods that contain lots of saturated fat Keep your body weight always ideal Perform physical activity and exercise routines especially types aerobics Avoid smoking Overcome stress well, a number of things you can do such as relaxation therapy, for example yoga. Some explanation from me, hopefully it helps and useful :)
