Yesterday I forgot to bring my contact lens case when swimming. I was forced to swim with contact lenses. I have warned my friend that I don’t want his face to be splattered for fear of contacting contact lenses. But he was nosy and splashed the pool water and hit my left eye. It was very sore but subsided after about 5 minutes. This morning I put on contact lenses again (which had been cleaned with a special liquid) and my left eye felt blurry and a little sore. It hurts very little. Is it dangerous? Please enlighten me. Thank you

Hi Anon, Thank you for your question on HealthReplies.com

Using contact lenses or contact lenses while swimming is very dangerous, and as dangerous as using them every day, because it can cause blindness. Softlens or contact lenses have pores so they can absorb bacteria or chemical compounds in the swimming pool. It is this absorption that triggers the eye to become infected, irritated and also conditions that cause sudden eye blindness.

if you want to swim to use contact lenses, you must use contact lenses that are immediately discarded or disposable.

Other causes of eye symptoms that feel sore and your eyes feel blurry, the possibilities are:

Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the lining of the eye Uveitis, inflammation of the uveal tract Keratitis, inflammation of the cornea Blepharitis or inflammation of the eyelids Immediately check your eye condition to an ophthalmologist, in order to get further treatment, the doctor will directly examine your eyes using a tool, and analyze the cause and the doctor will provide treatment or medication according to the cause.

What you have to do is;

Don't use contact lenses first. Avoid using eye drops indiscriminately, other than a doctor's prescription. Don't rub your sore eyes. Avoid using contact lenses that have been contaminated. Compress your eyes with warm water. Avoid exposure to dust and smoke. Use sunglasses when going out. Thank you, may be useful. dr. Nurmarwiyah
