Breast Lumps Enlarge After Menstruation, Shrink During Menstruation?
Good afternoon. Let me know, I’m 19 years old. Year 2018 arrived “in my breast there was a lump. But this lump enlarged after menstruation finished. And it shrinks again when menstruation lasts. can conclude these lumps are cancer or tumor? Thank you
Good evening, thanks for the question
Lumps or tumors in the breast that can be clearly palpable, movable, springy consistency, and without any injury to the breast skin are generally benign tumors.
Mammary fibroadenoma is the most common cause of benign tumors in the breast caused by hormonal changes in women. But it still needs to be evaluated to rule out malignancy in the breast, where ductal carcinoma is the most common cause of malignancy in the breast.
Information about symptoms includes whether the lump is getting bigger, whether it is affected by the menstrual cycle, whether there is pain and swelling, and whether the lump is producing fluid can help determine the possible cause. Then also needed information about the history of malignancy in the family. A history of breast malignancy in the family also needs to be known.
Physical examination is done to assess the characteristics of the lump, signs of malignancy, as well as any involvement of lymph nodes around the breast. Investigations may be needed to help enforce the diagnosis, including ultrasound examination, mammography, tissue biopsy or MRI.
Subsequent treatment will be adjusted to the final diagnosis of the cause of the tumor. For this reason, do further consultation with your doctor so that you can evaluate and plan for further treatment.
That's all, hope you can help
