I was in an accident. On April 8, 2019, my foot was hit by a motorcycle footstep, then I treated it myself using a thrombogel ointment and compressed with warm water. Then I went to the doctor on April 11, 2019 to be given two kinds of anti-pain medication and thrombogel ointment again. The doctor said he said my bruises were quite large so it took 2-3 weeks to heal. After the medicine was finished, why did the bruise on my leg not disappear (it was indeed somewhat smaller from the beginning of the accident), especially when I was lying down and standing in pain in my legs. Then if sitting position, the feet feel hot and painful. If I come home from work in the afternoon I immediately compress cold water for 15-30 minutes and after that I get an ointment. Likewise when going to work I do the same thing (according to doctor’s instructions). When I was sleeping I raised my leg position. Are symptoms like this normal? Or do I have to see a doctor again or just buy pain medication and ointment again for up to 3 weeks of healing? Can I rub with Hot N Cream or Counterpain? Thank you

Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com

First of all, it is of course necessary to ascertain in advance whether there are other structural injuries in your legs (whether there are injuries to the tendons in the legs, injuries to the bones) or only injuries to blood vessels that cause bruising. If your toes can move well, you do not have any particular problems when walking (do not become more limp or severe pain when you are unable to walk) and only feel pain in the bruised area only, then there may be no injury to other tissues. Direct physical examination and / or supporting examinations are still needed to ensure this.

Basically the bruise will heal by itself within 1-4 weeks (depending on the size of the bruise). If indeed the bruise that you experience is quite large, then it takes longer to heal, you should be more patient. The following are some of the things you can do to accelerate the healing of bruises on your feet:

rest your feet cold compresses for about 20 minutes (you can do 4-8 times a day if it still feels painful) do elevation of the feet (lift feet higher when you sit or sleep) All these instructions have been given by your doctor and should continue to do so that the bruise on your leg does not hurt anymore. You do not need to take pain medication if you are still able to withstand pain and do not interfere with your activities (if it is still very painful, you may take it again). You can also use Thrombogel Ointment, but make sure you have read the instructions for taking the medicine before you use it.

If your bruises are getting wider, your legs are getting more painful, or your bruising isn't getting smaller after 3 weeks, you can control it back to your doctor.

So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
