Hello Trisari81, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Based on your story, this can still be one way of HIV transmission to you because you are directly exposed to the patient's body fluids, especially the patient's blood.
Hand washing using alcohol or soap as soon as possible with proper hand washing may help prevent transmission, but it is still advisable to do further counseling with your doctor to assess whether your current incident requires further HIV testing or not.
For now, it is highly recommended that you consult directly and further with your doctor about the incident you experienced. It is also recommended that in the future, as a precautionary measure, always use personal protective equipment when you are about to take medical action, especially those that are at high risk of transmitting an illness. If the next time you experience the same incident or a patient's needle pierced by a former patient, you should immediately consult a doctor or a special committee of the incident.
I hope this helps.
