Hello, I want to ask about this disease. 1 year ago roughly, I experienced this bell’s palsy. At that time when I woke up, I was surprised to find that one of my faces stopped functioning, could not be moved, the eyelids could not be closed even while sleeping. But, two weeks later my face slowly moved, until I felt healed. But I just realized, that the effect is still felt there until now. As the side of the face does not work proportionally to the side of the face that does not experience Bells palsy, yes it’s very different if you look again. And is that fair? Then can my face return to normal completely, nothing is disproportionate anymore? How do you do the doctor? Please help. Thank you

1 Answer:

Hello, thanks for the question.

Bells fake is a disease of facial muscle paralysis due to neurological disease whose exact cause is still unknown, but it is thought to be due to inflammation of the facial nerve resulting in paralysis of the facial muscles. Bells Palsy causes paralysis of the facial muscles and nerves and does not affect the function and performance of the brain or other body parts. Symptoms that arise in the form of drooping eyelids, flat mouth corners, unable to raise eyebrows, and paralysis occur only on one side of the face. In some cases, this disease can improve by itself and sometimes can still cause residual symptoms on the face. Therefore, you should consult a neurologist to get the right treatment. The doctor will conduct a direct examination and additional examinations on the patient if needed. Handling will be adjusted to the clinical condition of the patient, the doctor may recommend the administration of drugs to physiotherapy to restore nerve function. It is better to keep on doing a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and nutritious food, fulfilling the need for fluids, exercising regularly, getting enough rest, and taking the medication that the doctor prescribes routinely as recommended. If paralysis on one side of your face is accompanied by paralysis or weakness in other body parts, consult a doctor immediately.

Thus, hopefully it helps.
