Can Blood Type O Be A Donor To Blood Type AB?
Good evening, I want to ask There is a leukemia patient who needs AB + blood, I intend to help but my blood type is O (but I don’t know the resuscitation). Can donors be direct or preferably the same class? I am the first time I want a donor problem. Thank you
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically blood type O is a universal donor (can donate blood to all blood groups) and blood type AB is a universal recipient (can receive blood donors from all blood groups). Therefore you can very much donate blood to someone with AB blood type. However, if AB blood is available to the patient, it will always be prioritized for blood from the same blood group first.
People who have rhesus positive can also receive blood from people with rhesus positive or rhesus negative. Therefore whatever your rhesus, you can still donate your blood to the patient if it is really needed. Discuss with the doctor who treats the patient to find out more about the blood needs for that patient.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
