Can Consumption Of Formula Milk Be Mixed With Soy Milk?
At noon I would like to ask about 6 months with cow’s milk allergy, right now I have nutramigen milk because my breast milk is a little assisted with milk if my baby is given nutramigen and interspersed with milk so may I not? thank you before
Hello Ifah, thanks for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically babies who have been diagnosed with cow milk allergy are advised to consume extensive hydrolyzed formula milk or amino acid milk. Partially hydrolyzed formulas and soy milk are not very recommended because allergic reactions to these two types of milk can still occur (in soy milk there can be cross reactions between cow's milk protein and soy milk protein). Soya milk is also not recommended for children under 6 months.
If your child has severe symptoms of cow's milk allergy, you should discuss with your child's doctor before deciding to mix HA formula milk with soy milk. Soya milk is actually not not allowed at all to be given to children with cow's milk allergy, but keep in mind that in babies who have cow's milk allergy, 10-20% of them are allergic to soy milk too (the proportion is 25% in babies under 6 months and 5% in infants over 6 months).
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
