Can Contact Lenses Cure Eye Minus?
Hello doctor, I am a 13 year old kid. My parents don’t let me wear glasses or eyepiece. They kept saying that my eyes can still be healed by drinking fruit juice. But I feel that my eye minus is increasing and my eyes are often crossed. Can contact lenses help to heal a doctor’s eye?
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Minus eye (nearsightedness, myopia) can cause problems for sufferers on a scale that varies from mild to severe. The magnitude of this obstacle certainly depends on the severity of the minus and the daily activities that the patient does. In mild conditions, sufferers may only have difficulty seeing distant objects. However, in more severe cases, sufferers can experience eye fatigue due to continuous accommodation and can lead to squints. High myopia that is not handled properly can also cause sufferers to be more prone to experiencing headaches, difficulty concentrating, and accidents, whether at work, driving, or other activities.
Overcoming myopia should ideally be done by going directly to an eye specialist. In this examination, the doctor will check your visual acuity, as well as check the overall health of your eyes to assess if there are other problems that make vision difficult. Furthermore, handling can be done in several ways, namely:
Correction is not a cure, but helps sufferers to be able to carry out normal activities and prevent worsening of myopia Can be done by using eye lenses or glasses with appropriate vision Surgery Can heal, so that patients do not need to use glasses or contact lenses Very useful, especially for people with high myopia Can performed with the LASIK (laser assisted in situ keratomileusis) method, LASEK (laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy), or PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) Consumption of fruit juices, especially those containing lots of vitamin A, is indeed good for improving nutrition and maintaining eye health. However, in people with minus eye, this action cannot cure, but only prevent worsening.
For that, you should give your parents understanding to want to check your condition with an eye specialist so that they can be given proper treatment.
Hope it helps ..
