Can Exercise Cause Appendectomy Scars To Open?
Assalammua’alaikum Doctor, sorry to disturb. Two years ago I had an appendectomy and my stomach was cut vertically past the belly button, and now thank God I’m in good shape. Now I am 17 years old and will take a physical test to participate in official school registration which includes pull ups, sit ups, push ups, and also running tests. Can I practice pull ups, sit ups and push ups with my condition like this? Thank you
From the information you conveyed, if you have a history of appendicitis surgery with surgery to open your stomach wider, and this has been going on for 2 years, then your condition should not have any complaints and side effects from the surgery at that time. Scars and sometimes complaints of itching or mild pain in the abdominal area may be a little bit you experience.
With these conditions and you will undergo various physical tests for official school, then these physical tests will generally not affect your surgical scars.
If you are an individual trained in sports or strenuous activities and muscle strength training, then you should not feel heavy weight in this physical test.
However, if your body is not trained, then maybe after a physical test, you will feel complaints of pain or discomfort in your muscles or in the area of the surgical wound. Even though you feel pain in the wound area, it is basically not at risk for your surgical wound to carry out strenuous activities.
However, in any case, tell the medical staff at the school, and tell the school superintendent about your clinical condition and your surgical history.
This is the information we can convey.
