Can Fasting With ITP Sufferers?
. Before, I was sick with ITP. it wasn’t until April and then I recovered. I also caused ITP pain because my stomach was injured. now my condition is quite improved. TP not 100% improved. Sometimes I still feel dizzy. Can I try fasting?
Good evening, thanks for the question
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disease in which antibody reactions in the body cause abnormal destruction of platelets so that the numbers decrease in the blood and cause symptoms of spontaneous bleeding. This disease cannot be cured completely but can be controlled with modern medicine until it enters the remission stage where the symptoms have largely recovered.
According to research fasting ramadan will only cause a slight change in the immune system that is temporary. Although there has been no research on the effects of fasting ramadan on ITP conditions, but in other similar autoimmune diseases such as stable SLE or Lupus is known to not cause negative effects on disease progression, and does not reduce the quality of life of sufferers. If you really feel fit again, you can try fasting. But if you feel you are not fit enough, you should rest and provide enough nutrition for the body to speed up the recovery process. If in doubt, you should consult with the treating doctor so that it can be assessed according to the current conditions.
That's all, hope you can help.
