Can Hepatitis B And C Be Completely Cured?
I want to ask whether hepatitis B and C can be completely cured? A few months ago the doctor said there was a problem with my liver caused by hepatitis B and C but after a few months of being given medicine my liver was normal and the doctor said I don’t need to take any more medicine. Does that mean my hepatitis has healed? Thank you
Hepatitis B and hepatitis C have a fairly large chance of healing in acute conditions if their immune system is still good and has received the right treatment. About 90% of acute hepatitis B is completely cured and only about 10% is chronic. The chance of healing for hepatitis C itself ranges from 20-50% cured where the rest can be chronic.
To see the possibility of recovery, the doctor will perform a series of examinations. In your case the doctor has decided not to continue because of the possibility of significant clinical improvement. Regarding whether you have fully recovered or not, you should immediately consult with the doctor.
Hepatitis B and hepatitis C are types of viruses that attack the liver. This virus is transmitted through several ways, namely blood transfusion, contact with the patient's blood, piercing/tattooing, sexual intercourse, or from mother to fetus. If infection with hepatitis B and C viruses becomes chronic, it can lead to serious complications such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. Still the best way to avoid this disease is prevention of transmission.
