Can I Give Milk That Has Been Milked For 1-2 Hours?
Hello … I want to ask … if breast milk was milked 1-2 hours ago … and given a baby to drink … is that possible ?? Does it have to be warmed or should it be stored in the refrigerator after milking it ??
Hello, thanks for the question.
ASI (breast milk) is the best nutrition for babies. Currently, milking is mostly done by nursing mothers who have many activities outside the home. The method of storing ASIP must be carefully considered so as not to cause health problems in infants. ASIP stored at room temperature around 25 degrees Celsius hold up to 6 hours, while ASIP stored in a cooler with an ice bag can last up to 24 hours, storage in a refrigerator with a minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius can last up to 5 days, and ASIP which stored in freezers with a temperature of -18 degrees Celsius can last up to 6 months. However, please note that the longer the storage of milk, the quality of the nutrition is also reduced, therefore it is recommended to use breast milk in the order of storage. Nevertheless, the frozen breastmilk, the nutritional value is still far better than a formula. Breast milk stored at room temperature in the first 1-2 hours can be used immediately or can be flowed with warm water to maintain its warmth. If there are complaints or questions during the baby breastfeeding process, you can discuss them with the ASI consultant or pediatrician. Thus, hopefully useful.
