Hello! So I just took off stirrup 3 days ago, and I was put on an acrylic retainer. The drg said to use when active. But it feels uncomfortable, I get nauseous and my mouth dries quickly. Can you use it while you sleep? thank you

Hello Youmelia, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.

Retainer given after the removal of the braces is basically to help 'hold' the position of the teeth that are well after the installation of the wire so that the position of the tooth does not change again.

The use of this retainer can vary in length of use, which can be as long as 3 months or more depending on the condition of your teeth. Use during activities is recommended to keep your teeth in the same position as when braces are paired because braces have just been removed and the teeth need time to maintain their position wirelessly by means of retainer mounting. If the position is considered to be sufficiently 'sturdy', then it can be modified anytime the use of the retainer is recommended.

For the condition of your own teeth, it is highly recommended to keep using it during activities such as that recommended by your dentist so as not to re-change the position of your teeth after removing the braces. However, if the complaint is indeed very disturbing, you can consult further with your dentist to find a solution to minimize the complaint.

I hope this helps.
