1 Answer:

Hello Lina,

Thank you for the question.

Fever and stomach pain can be caused by many conditions, such as typhoid fever, hepatitis, urinary tract infections, peptic ulcers, intestinal inflammation, irritable bowel syndrome, dengue fever, or many other possibilities. This condition, may require different treatments, depending on the cause and severity. At a glance, referring to the type of treatment you are presenting, the doctor may suspect that your condition is related to an infection, so he gives you a fever reliever, neutralizes stomach acid, and antibiotics to eradicate the bacteria that causes the infection.

Of the medicines you mentioned, which is feared dangerous when consumed by nursing mothers is chloramphenicol. This drug belongs to category C, because it has been proven to cause dangerous side effects in research conducted in animals, it's just that there is not enough scientific evidence available regarding the potential danger to humans. Therefore, this drug should not be taken while breastfeeding, unless the doctor assesses the benefits far exceed the potential risks that can be caused.

For that, it is better before consuming these drugs, consult directly with your doctor or internal medicine specialist who checks you in to provide appropriate and safe treatment for the baby you are breastfeeding, yes ...

I hope this helps.
