Can People With Stomach Acid Eat Seafood?

Do you want to ask if you have high stomach acid, can you eat seafood or not?

1 Answer:

Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com

What do you mean by high stomach acid is you have GERD or gastroesophageal reflux (or often referred to as gastric acid disease)?

Basically, seafood consumption does not interfere with the stomach at all. What's more important for you to consider is how to cook it. People who have stomach disorders (whether GERD, peptic ulcer, gastritis, or other gastric ailments) are not advised to consume foods that are too spicy, sour, and oily. Therefore if you want to consume seafood, make sure you don't cook with seasonings that are too spicy or sour, and not cooked with a lot of oil (fried for example).

The following are some other things that you need to consider if you suffer from GERD:

Do not eat too much and too full Eat small amounts but more often Avoid consumption of foods / drinks that contain / produce gas Avoid consumption of coffee, alcohol, and soft drinks Avoid smoking Avoid lying down after eating Raise your headrests when you sleep / lie down Lose weight if there is excessive weight

So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
