Good afternoon, thanks for the question
What do you mean here is pleural thickening (the lining of the lungs)?
Pleural thickening or what is called diffuse pleural thickening (DPT) is a pulmonary disease characterized by the formation of extensive scar tissue in the pleural membrane. This condition causes chest pain and difficulty breathing, and can also be a major sign in cases of excessive asbestos exposure.
Causes of pleural thickening include:
1. Pneumonia (infection of the lung parenchyma)
2. Tuberculosis (TB germ infection)
3. Empyema (formation of pus or pus in the lung tissue)
4. Hemothorax (accumulation of blood in the lungs)
5. Exposure to radiation
Pulmonary thickening is reversible, meaning that the possibility of a return of the pleural structure to normal is small. The doctor will generally provide therapy to treat the underlying lung disease. Treatment with bronchodilators and steroids might help patients breathe easier.
Rehabilitation is also known to help relieve symptoms. The type of rehabilitation in question is moderate intensity exercise to overcome breathing difficulties so that the patient can remain physically active.
That's all, hope you can help
