Can Simvastatin Be Used In Conjunction With Arthritis Medications?
Afternoon. I want to ask my mother to suffer from gout and cholesterol, can my mother take the drug simvastatin and meloxicam together?
Good evening, thanks for the question
Simvastatin is a statin drug that works to reduce cholesterol levels in the blood. While meloxicam belongs to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory group which can be used for various inflammatory conditions, one of which is inflammation of the joints due to the accumulation of uric acid in the joints. Consumption of both together is known to not cause harmful side effects. However, the work of simvastatin will be better if taken at night, and meloxicam should be consumed after eating considering that side effects can cause stomach irritation in long-term use. Take medication regularly according to doctor's advice and limit consumption of foods with high fat content and uric acid, for example meat, organ meats, crabs, shellfish, nuts, cheese, oily foods, and so on.
That's all, hope you can help.
