Can TB Meningitis Come Back?
Good afternoon HealthReplies.com.rnrnI am 27 years old. 2.5 years ago, I was hospitalized for 3 weeks due to TB meningitis and was in a coma as well. And outpatient treatment for 6 months, during the first 3 months of outpatient treatment can not see clearly (blur and shaded) and hearing is reduced. In the 6th month it was declared cured. In the last 1 month, I have a sore neck (stiff) until it spreads to my head (just like I had meningitis) and my vision is blurry again. What I want to ask is, can the disease that I was suffering from be relapsed?rnrnThank you for your attention.
Hi Herlina, thanks for asking HealthReplies.com
Meningitis is an infection that attacks the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, due to bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi. Three typical symptoms to watch out for in meningitis sufferers are fever, headache and stiff neck.
In your case, meningitis is caused by the tuberculosis bacteria. Recurrence is very likely to occur, either because of a decreased immune system, incomplete treatment or because of infection from other people.
Given the dangerous complications that this disease will cause, you should immediately consult a doctor. Do not forget to convey a history of the disease you have experienced as well as a history of previous treatment.
hope you get well soon,
