hello, i am samuel, male, 17 years old. around Tuesday my cheeks were sore, and a little swollen, I thought normal swelling and just put cold water on it. Wednesday night I was excited and started googling, and most likely I had an abscess in the lower leftmost tooth. Thursday and Friday I was supposed to go to the puskesmas, but was unable to. Saturday and Sunday the dental clinic is not open. Today (Monday) I went to the health center and the dental clinic was closed. but today my cheeks and gums are not sore, and the yellow and white color on my gums is 85% gone. Am I safe? or still need to see a doctor? I know it’s the safest action to go to the doctor, but dentists are more expensive than the health center .. Is there any treatment I can do at home to relieve the abscess? I’m afraid of losing my teeth, read on the internet. thanks u003cbr u003e u003cbr u003eTL: 17-year-old male DR had an abscess 5 days ago and has not been to the dentist. can it heal on its own or have to see a doctor?

1 Answer:

Hello Samuel, Thank you for the question.

Pain and swelling of the gums can be caused by various health conditions such as:

inflammation of the gums abscesses teeth periodontitis viral or fungal infections lack of vitamin C sensitive gums side effects of drugs such as antiepileptic drugs, hormonal contraceptives, corticosteroids The best step for you is to consult a dentist which you can do at a health center, dentist clinic, or hospital. Your dentist will need to do an examination of your teeth to determine the cause. Knowing the cause is necessary to know the next treatment. If it is caused by an abscess, this condition requires further treatment because this condition cannot go away on its own.

While waiting for your doctor's consultation, please keep your teeth clean by brushing your teeth regularly. Use an antiseptic mouthwash if necessary.

Hope this information is helpful.
