Night. I want to ask. If someone is a VSD sufferer, he has already had surgery to close a hole in his heart, but is there a possibility that the hole will reappear or another heart problem occurs at a later time. Even though it was operated on?

1 Answer:

Hi Aliffff,

VSD is a condition where there is a leak between the left ventricle and the right ventricle of the heart. Generally a congenital abnormality in newborns, most of which can close themselves as the baby gets older. But this VSD condition can also occur in the post-heart attack type of myocardial infarction, in adults.

VSD treatment is done by closing the hole / defect operation either directly or by using a device such as an occluder. In adults, of course the possibility of this VSD reappears, it can occur even though rarely. If the hole reappears but is not large, no repeat surgery will be performed. However, in a hole large enough to interfere with the work of the heart, this can be considered for re-surgery.

Postoperative complications can arise, in the form of: arrhythmias / heart rhythm disorders, until cardiac arrest. Even though this possibility is small, ranging from 1-2% of the action taken, it is still necessary to have a continuing examination to ensure that no other problems arise.

Thus, hopefully can help you
